Hong Kong - Mui Wo Hung Shing Festival 2010

Mui Wo Hung Shing Festival in Hong Kong 2010

This festival is held to promote the Chinese Lantern festival with a series of Chinese custom activities. You can experience the rich and unique Chinese culture in these four days in Mui Wo, Lantau Island, Hong Kong.

Activities:
Releasing Water Lantern
Venue. Mui Wo Silver River

People release water lanterns into the sea and hope their wishes come true.
Raising Flying Lantern
Venue. Mui Wo Silvermine Beach
Flying Lantern is also known as "Hung Ming Lantern". People write their wishes on the "Hung Ming Lanterns". Next they light them and then raise them to the sky (heavenly God).


How to get there?
You can take ferry from Central to Mui Wo. There are two types of ferries - ordinary ferries and fast ferries. The journey is almost 60mins on ordinary ferries, however, the fast ferry takes much faster, 30mins' ride only.
